Ondo 2020: Ilaje APC leaders reunite

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in llaje Local Government area of Ondo State have resolved to unite against possible external forces that could cause disunity among the party’s members ahead of the governorship election in the state.

The resolution to work together  was reached during a meeting observed with social distancing order and presided over by the State Chairman of the party, Mr. Ade Adetimehin with members of the State Working Committee and the leaders of the party in the local government.

In a statement signed by the State Director, Media and Publicity of the party, Mr. Steve Otaloro, the leaders of the party in the local government appreciated Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for his developmental strides and particularly for the appointment of three indigenes of Ilaje to the state Executive position as ranking cabinet members.

They appraised this feat as second to none, as Ilaje people have never had it so good in any government like they have it in Akeredolu’s government.

While stressing the need to unite the party ahead of the coming governorship poll,  Adetimehin reiterated the essence of a political party as an organized group of people who have the same ideology, or who, otherwise, have the same political views to field candidates for elections with view to implement  party’s agenda.

To achieve the party’s agenda, the chairman  said all members should see the party’s interest as foremost to any  personal interest.

Adetimehin who called for unity in the party in the local government and the immediate disbandment of all the various groups in the council urged them to close ranks into one indivisible caucus under the leadership of the party chairman in the council and his executive.

In the statement, party members in the council agreed to call for regular meetings of the council executive and called for the involvement of the non elected/appointed party members in the APC state meetings.

It added that they should be appointed to ad-hoc committees set up by the party rather than the unfair manner used presently in choosing political appointees and elected members.

The leaders of the forum in the local government, the statement added would be reconstituted so as to be more solid with the inclusion of the local government party chairman and the secretary as members of the forum.

Also, they urged the party chairman in Ilaje to reconstitute the Reconciliatory Committe and take it’s decision to the Elders Forum for the approval of the list while the committee commences work in earnest.
