Bello, who is a lawyer, administrator, and renowned journalist, is the former secretary to the Lagos State Government and holds a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos.

He also served as Commissioner for Environment under various administrations in Lagos State.

Bello takes over from Babatunde Irukera who was sacked by the president in January.

Irukera was sacked alongside the director-general of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), Alex Okoh, in conformity with plans to restructure and reposition critical agencies of the Federal Government towards protecting the rights of Nigerian consumers and providing a strong basis for enhanced contributions to the nation’s economy by key growth-enabling institutions.
