Pandemonium as female student throws newborn baby from three-story hostel building
A second-year student from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Federal University Dutse (FUD) in Jigawa State allegedly threw her newborn baby from the upper floor of the female hostel shortly after giving birth.
The distressing incident occurred on Monday, shocking the residents of the Morocco Female Hostel on the university campus. According to witnesses, the newborn baby girl was discovered dead on the ground floor, having been thrown from a three-story building.
The student purportedly took this extreme action to conceal her out-of-wedlock pregnancy.
Police spokesperson DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the incident, stating that the student gave birth and then threw the baby from the building, leading to the infant’s immediate demise.
Law enforcement promptly responded to the scene, transporting both the baby and mother to Rasheed Shekoni Teaching Hospital Dutse, where the baby was pronounced dead by a attending physician.
The suspect is currently receiving medical treatment and psychological support.
The police spokesperson also revealed that the incident is being investigated already.
