LEAVE TO CLEAVE – Pastor Isaac Olutimehin
TEXT:
Genesis 2:24-25 KJV.
“Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh”.
[25] “And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed”.
*MESSAGE*
☆☆☆ Beloved, that you are privileged to read this message is for a purpose.
☆☆☆ Please, I want to counsel that anyone who is opportune to read this message should follow what the Holy Spirit is trying to impact.
☆☆☆ This message is for both the married and those yet to marry. There are lessons for you to learn.
*LESSONS* 👇
1. *Be committed to each other.*
☆☆☆ In Genesis 2:24, the bible is talking about the man leaving his father and his mother and cleaving to his wife.
☆☆☆ Note that leaving precedes the cleaving. You will discover that the difference between *leave* and *cleave* is the letter *C* which stands for commitment.
☆☆☆ Any man who hasn’t left the past behind cannot totally cleave to his wife. That goes for the wife too. As a matter of fact, the bible language for man is male and female, read Genesis 1:26-27; 5:2.
☆☆☆ Once you are married, even the type of friends you keep must change.
☆☆☆ Sister, be committed to your husband. Husband, be committed to your wife. Read Ephesians 5:22,25.
2. *Marriage is not meant for children.*
☆☆☆ When the bible says, *therefore shall the man leave his father and his mother,* it is not just leaving your parents but what the bible is simply saying here is that the man should stop being childish in behavior.
☆☆☆ If there are issues to settle between you and your wife, don’t run to your parents like a child whose bread has just been forcefully snatched away from him by his stronger play mates.
☆☆☆ Remember that it was God who said, “it is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him” – Genesis 2:18. Therefore, run back to God for solutions.
☆☆☆ Marriage is not for babies, so be a man and not a child; act maturely.
3. *Be open to each other.*
☆☆☆ In Genesis 2:25, the bible says👇
“And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed”.
☆☆☆ The bible isn’t talking about being physically naked but the bible is simply saying, be open to each other.
☆☆☆ Nothing should be kept secret from each other. If you are still keeping certain things as a secret from your spouse, then you are afraid to be ‘naked’ before each other.
4. *Cover up each other*
☆☆☆ Still talking about “they were both naked and not ashamed”, the bible is simply saying that both of you must not discuss your faults, errors or mistakes with a third party. Tell each other his/her faults.
☆☆☆ Learn to settle issues together through dialogue. Communication is key in any successful marriage.
☆☆☆ Even God himself said👇
” *Come now, and let us reason together* , saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool” – Isaiah 1:18.
5. *Note that the shame/disgrace of one is for the other*
☆☆☆ If your partner faces a disgrace, it’s for both of you.
☆☆☆ Remember that the bible says👇
*and they shall be one flesh, Genesis 2:24.*
☆☆☆ If you are the type who will say, “I will disgrace him or I will put her to shame”, that disgrace or shame is for both of you as well.
☆☆☆ When anyone of you walks outside there, people will surely rub that shame on both of you.
*CONCLUSION*
☆☆☆ In conclusion, I want to leave us with the counsel of the author of marriage himself, God, as contained in the book of John 13:17

*If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.*
☆☆☆ The bible declares further👇
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” – John 8:32.
☆☆☆ Beloved, the truth you know and do, is what shall make you free.
*PRAYERS*
1. Father, please step into my marital life and let it conform with your divine purpose for a successful marriage.
2. Oh God my father, shut the door of my marital life against the devil and his agents in Jesus name.
3. In the name of Jesus, I refuse to cooperate with the devil to scatter my marriage.
4. My marriage is a divine project in the hand of the author of marriage, we are turning out as a master piece in Jesus name.
5. Father, please uproot whatever you have not planted in our marriage.
6. I flush out every unfriendly friend, trying to spy on my marital life for evil purposes.
7. Oh God my father, let my marriage be fruitful as you have ordained it to be in Jesus name.

8. Father, please connect me with your will for my life.
9. Grant me the grace Lord to accept your will for my life.
10. Oh God my father, don’t allow me to marry wrongly.
*PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS*
I pray for every reader of this prayer message, may you not ignore every lesson that God wants you to learn in Jesus name.
I decree, in your search for a life partner, may you not be led by sight but by the Holy Spirit in Jesus name.
To every couple out there, trusting God for children, I decree, your Isaac shall bring laugher into your life this season in Jesus name.
In every marriage where there is crisis right now, I decree and declare, the author of marriage himself shall step in to resolve your issues in Jesus name.
Whatever God has not ordained to be in your marriage, shall be uprooted from today in Jesus name.
For every couple struggling to make ends meet, I decree and declare, the way maker himself shall create doors for you where non ever existed in Jesus name.
Those who are experiencing challenges with their in-laws, I decree, the Almighty God himself shall step in from today in Jesus name.
Your marriage shall experience joy and be fruitful in Jesus name.
To a particular family out there, the Lord said I should tell you, your spouse is currently sick, that sickness is not unto death but for the glory of God to become manifest. Divine healing is your portion right now in Jesus name.
In the marriage supper of the Lamb, you will not be missing in Jesus name.
