The appointment comes on the heels of a recent prison break which saw over 200 inmates from the centre escape after the prison fence collapsed.

The Correctional Centre’s Public Relations Officer, Rabiu Shuaibu, made this known on Sunday in a statement in which he said the new Comptroller assumed duties on Friday, the 31st day of May 2024.

“A new controller of Corrections, in person of CC. Maikudi Garba Adamu has been appointed. A seasoned correctional officer who served in many different positions including the officer in charge at several custodial formations across the country.

“Until his recent posting to Niger state as the 25th controller of the command, CC Maikudi Garba was the controller and principal of Bostal Training Institute Kano.

“He took over the mantle of leadership from his predecessor, CC. Mohammed Hamisu Isa who was transferred to Zone’B’ headquarters in Kaduna as zonal coordinator (CD),” Shuaibu stated.
