A Presidential Aide, Hon. Gambo Manzo, The Special Assistant To The President of Nigeria on Political Affairs in the office of the Vice President has called on Nigerians across Political, ethnic and religious beliefs to remain united as the Nation battles to end the waves of Insecurity across the Nation.*
*Hon. Gambo Manzo made the call in Gombe State through His Media and Communication Assistant, Amb Timothy Nwachukwu, He restated that the preamble to Nigeria’s 1999 constitutions clearly stated the aspirations of Nigerians to live in unity and harmony as one indivisible and indissoluble sovereign state. Hence, it is imperative for all Nigerians to be part of the solution to the recurrent diversity related violent conflicts in the country as our diversity as a nation should not be about how we differ; rather, it should be about embracing one another’s uniqueness.*
He opined that the security challenges in Nigeria is a matter of national importance that should be of concern to all stakeholders in the Nigerian state and one that requires comprehensive and committed contributions of all groups in Nigeria.
He re-emphasized on the need for leaders across all levels of leadership in Nigeria to rethink and improve on policy and institutional means of dealing with security concerns arising in the country as well as evolve programmes of cultural and political education and orientation that seek to enthrone the fundamentals of democracy so that the political contestants as well as the generality of the citizens will imbibe principles and practices essential for sustainable democracy and such programmes must also address specific tendencies that create security breach and concerns in the country.
He further called on Nigerian legislators saddled with the review of our nation’s constitution to
explore the gaps and grey areas in the constitution that are responsible for various problems and crises in our polity and provide solution that gives rise to our nation’s challenges.
He called on Nigerians to unite against all security issues and problems that are affecting or capable of affecting the attitude, confidence and co-operation of all groups and segments that make up the Nigerian federation.
