1 Samuel 25:37 KJV.
“But it came to pass in the morning, when the wine was gone out of Nabal, and his wife had told him these things, that his heart died within him, and he became as a stone”.
*MESSAGE*
☆☆☆ I have read this chapter of the bible talking about Nabal over and over again.
☆☆☆ I have even ministered, before now, on Nabal’s attitude towards David.
☆☆☆ But I have never seen him from the angle the Holy Spirit wants to use his story to minister to us today.
☆☆☆ You will recall that David had sent his servants to Nabal to request for a little favour from him 👇
“And David sent out ten young men, and David said unto the young men, Get you up to Carmel, and go to Nabal, and greet him in my name”.
[6] “And thus shall ye say to him that liveth in prosperity , Peace be both to thee, and peace be to thine house, and peace be unto all that thou hast”.
[7] “And now I have heard that thou hast shearers: now thy shepherds which were with us, we hurt them not, neither was there ought missing unto them, all the while they were in Carmel”.
[8] “Ask thy young men, and they will shew thee. Wherefore let the young men find favour in thine eyes: for we come in a good day: give, I pray thee, whatsoever cometh to thine hand unto thy servants, and to thy son David” – 1 Samuel 25:5-8.
☆☆☆ See how king David had humbled himself so much before Nabal and never regarded him as a servant.
☆☆☆ Let us now see how Nabal responded to this humble request 👇
“And when David’s young men came, they spake to Nabal according to all those words in the name of David, and ceased”.
[10] “And Nabal answered David’s servants, and said, Who is David? and who is the son of Jesse? there be many servants now a days that break away every man from his master.
[11] “Shall I then take my bread, and my water, and my flesh that I have killed for my shearers, and give it unto men, whom I know not whence they be? – 1 Samuel 25:9-11.
☆☆☆ You will agree with me that the response of Nabal was too hash and disrespectful to a personality like king David.
■■■ *The lesson for today:*
☆☆☆ From our main scripture, it was very clear that Nabal was under an influence, the influence of alcohol.
☆☆☆ It was also clear that Nabal lost his senses while under the influence of alcohol.
The bible says 👇
“But it came to pass in the morning, when the wine was gone out of Nabal, and his wife had told him these things, that his heart died within him, and he became as a stone” – 1 Samuel 25:37.
☆☆☆ Nabal would have wondered if he ever said all he was told he said against the great warrior himself, king David.
■■■ No wonder the bible says 👇
“Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts” – Proverbs 31:6.
☆☆☆ Even those who “give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish” are not spared.
For the scripture equally says 👇
“Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness”! – Habakkuk 2:15.
■■■ Beloved, run away from anything that can influence you negatively.
☆☆☆ If you know that you are always weak and cannot reason logically when you see beautiful ladies, please avoid them.
☆☆☆ If you know that money can easily influence your decisions negatively, please do not accept money from anyone when you are about taking some vital decisions.
☆☆☆ If you spend money carelessly, please don’t accept to keep money in trust for anyone before you run into trouble.
☆☆☆ If praise singers can easily sweep you off your feet and force you to take wrong decisions, please flee when you see them coming your way.
☆☆☆ Even anger is also an influence, ask the Lord to help you deal with this vice.
☆☆☆ Excessive talk can be an influence. Some people have, through careless talks, handed over their destiny into the hands of destiny destroyers.
☆☆☆ Do you know that “blind trust” is also an influence. Only God is perfect and only him should be absolutely trusted.
☆☆☆ If you get angry easily or you are very temperamental, ensure you don’t say a word when provoked. This may be difficult to do but go to God in prayers.
☆☆☆ Beloved, prayerfully identify your own “negative influence” and deal with it before it deals with you.
■■■ It is dangerous if you know these things and still feel comfortable with them.
■■■ For the bible says 👇
“If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them” – John 13:17.
☆☆☆ If you don’t take heed now, you will realise the destructive power of negative influence only when it is rather too late to make adjustments; just like it happened to Nabal.
☆☆☆ Nabal eventually died 10 days later after he realised his folly.
■■■ God killed him 👇
“And it came to pass about ten days after, that the Lord smote Nabal, that he died” – 1 Samuel 25:38.
*PRAYERS*
1. Father, give me the grace to identify every negative influence in my life.
2. I receive abundant grace to deal with my weak points in Jesus name.
3. Oh God my father, don’t allow the devil to get hold of me through my weak points.
4. My father, my father, expose every negative character in me that can destroy my life.
5. I refuse to go the way of Nabal in Jesus name.
6. Father, please don’t allow the words of my mouth to dig my grave in Jesus name.
7. My mouth, Oh my mouth; I refuse to use you against those who can help me to rise in life.
8. I will not become the reason for my own delay in life in Jesus name.
9. My father, my father, don’t allow my destiny to be truncated in Jesus name.
10. Father, let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart link me with my destiny helpers in Jesus mighty name.
11. Father, let my life run in accordance with your word as it is written concerning me in Jesus name.
12. My life shall not become a dispointment to God and to my family in Jesus name.
*PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS*
I pray for somebody today, may you not be under an influence of things that will truncate your destiny in Jesus name.
To a particular individual reading this message, I decree, the Lord will kill your anger before it destroys you.
May the Lord shut your eyes against those things that can easily pollute your mind and affect your right thinking.
You will not become a Nabal to your family and generation.
Whatever vices that are in you today which can truncate your glorious future shall the Lord remove from you.
You will not use your own mouth to dig your grave.
Your hands will not be stretched forth to accept ‘gifts’ that can kill.
I pray for somebody today, you will not run into the errors of Balaam in Jesus name.
The mistakes of Balaak will not be repeated by you.
May you learn the lessons the Holy Spirit is putting across through this message in Jesus name.
According to Ephesians 5:18, may you be filled with the Holy Spirit in Jesus mighty name.
