Kate Middleton ‘touched by public support’ after cancer diagnosis
Kate Middleton says she has received many “kind messages” following her cancer diagnosis.
The Princess of Wales has also requested that the public respect her family’s privacy as she undergoes treatment.
Middleton had on Friday revealed that she is in the early stages of treatment after being diagnosed with cancer.
She said the diagnosis was a “huge shock” after an “incredibly tough couple of months”.
The princess explained that when she underwent abdominal surgery in January, it was not known that she had cancer.
She said tests after the operation found that cancer had been present.
Middleton added that she is “well and getting stronger every day”.
“My medical team advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy. I am now in the early stages of that treatment,” she had said.
BBC reports that a spokesperson for Kensington Palace said Prince William of Wales and Middleton his wife are “extremely moved” by people’s kindness.
The spokesperson added that the royal couple have sought privacy and are grateful that the public understands their request.
“They are both enormously touched by the kind messages from people in the UK, across the Commonwealth, and around the world,” the spokesperson said.
“They are extremely moved by the public’s warmth and support and are grateful for the understanding of their request for privacy at this time.”
Kate’s chemotherapy treatment began in late February.
The palace says it will not be sharing further medical information, including the type of cancer.
Kate Middleton is married to William, the Prince of Wales and heir apparent to the British throne.
