UNDP’s economic revitalization support programme will benefit Imo citizens- Ude

The recently launched United Nations Development Economic Revitalization Support Programme (UNDP) in Owerri the capital of Imo State was geared to improve the economy of the state in order to impact the lives of the people positively.

The Governor’s Special Adviser on SDGs and Humanitarian Services, Princess Christina Ude who disclosed this cheering news, affirmed that the program when fully implemented will be of great benefit to Imo people especially the less- privileged whose businesses were badly affected by the Covid- 19 pandemic outbreak.

Ude in an interactive session with our reporter at her office located at Akanchawa Road, New Owerri on Thursday, mentioned that the Imo State government led by Governor Hope Uzodimma meant well for Imo State hence his valuable and laudable programs and policies.

Recall that during the launching of the program at Concorde Hotel, Princess Christina Ude, stressed that data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) revealed that Imo and Abia States have the highest unemployment rate in the country.

“Therefore, to safeguard national progress on SDGs, UNDP’s economic revitalisation programme will ensure the continuation of livelihood, employment and businesses as the program seeks to address the socio- economic challenges posed by the pandemic at affected communities”, she maintained.

According to her, UNDP’s economic revitalisation programme was created to sustain the development goals advocacy, successful advocacy on behalf of nonprofit organizations, poverty alleviation, group facilitation work, project management work, leadership within a local advocacy organization, private sector experience in public policy research and education, strategic and operational planning, budgeting and cost management, profitability and cost analysis, people leadership, risk management, technical and strategic marketing.

Interestingly, the SDGs Office, Imo State, covers these areas for the good of all Imo people, Sustainable Development Goals, Focal Person for the Nigerian Social Investment Programs in Imo State, Social Investment Programs including the Homegrown School Feeding Program, NPower, Conditional Cash Transfer and Government Enterprise Empowerment Program (GEEP) are all effective for the purpose of putting smiles on the faces of Imo people through their empowerment policies.
