Imo State was created in 1976 by the military government. Since then, many governors had ruled but what matters is the legacy they left behind.
Imo State being the Eastern Heartland of Igbo is blessed with a lot of resources of both human and material. Hospitality has been one of its unique nature.
Every four or eight years new leaders emerge, but one thing that kept on running in the minds of Imo people is ‘can this governor be the best or will he treat us like the past ones’.
The people will always wait patiently to know the programs or mapped out plans of the new government. Many of the rulers had come up with wonderful policies or initiatives just to get the attention of the people to supporting and believing in their administrations, some of these programs could be redemption, green and clean intiative, rescue mission, rebuild Imo and now the 3r mantras.
Having given the alluded background, it is important, my inestimable readers, to reveal to you my mind for taking my time to explain to you the need to commend the governor of Imo state, Senator Hope Uzodimma for his promise of returning power to the people through the re-establishment of the long abandoned Development Centers in the state.
According to my investigations, the Development Centers were created during the time of the Redemption government manned by Achaike Udenwa and was consolidated by Ikedi Ohakim, destroyed or abandoned by the Rescue Mission government of Senator Rochas Okorocha.
When these Development Centers are practically achieved development will get to grassroots and government will be more nearer to the people. Uzodimma should be commended for revealing plans to revamp the Development Centres. The Governor who announced his plan to consolidating the Development Centers during an audience with his political structures namely: CampHope under the control and command of High Chief Canice Moore Nwachukwu, Omeogo na Orlu and other structures at the Government House Executive Chamber recently and at the Stakeholders meeting respectively. He has received alot of commendations across the state and beyond for the development.
This article encourages the good people of Imo State to see the need to join hand with the present government to reviving this moribund Development Centers for the benefit of all citizenry.
Imo State is our, no other state that we can proudly call our own except Imo State.
Truth be told, election has come and gone, what is next is governance of which requires the effort of all to make it work. Nobody owns government but people are the true owner of government, let us eschew unnecessary propagandas that fuels crisis among us.
For so long, Imo people have engaged so much on politics of bitterness and pulling him or her down syndrome of which we are not gaining any thing from it rather we are the one losing. let us bear it in mind that in politics, nobody is a winner but the people are the winer, once you lose wait for another time you may be lucky or not. This issue of saying is not my party, should stop, government belong to everybody and that everybody is us.
I will conclude my today’s write up with this CHINUA ACHEBE who once said, a “man who calls his kinsmen to a feast does not do so to redeem them from starving. They all have food in their own houses. When we gather in the moonlight at village ground, it is not because of the moon. Every man can see it in his own compound. We come together because it is good for kinsmen to do so. Therefore, let us continue with the team spirit and enjoy the power of togetherness. Let’s smile not because we don’t have problems but because we laugh stronger than the problems. Alone I can smile but together we can laugh, because no man laughs alone.
Alone I can enjoy but together we can celebrate, it so because no one person can finish a big pot of rice. Alone I can talk but together we can speak. Let’s promote things that unite us than things that cause disunity, Unity is Great Strength, Everyone is important according to their own unique purpose.
Let us join hand together and build the Imo State of our dream, we have dwelt so much on the past glory of Dee Sam Mbakwe, is time to change the narrative. Imo must be great again.
