The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) issued a statement on Wednesday, January 3, refuting claims of a clash with marketers or any other party regarding the payment of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) petrol

The denial comes in response to a media report suggesting that petrol prices might rise to N1,200 per litre due to the company’s exit from the under-recovery of fuel costs.

In a concise rejoinder, NNPC’s Group Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, stated, “NNPC Ltd emphasises it has not clashed with any party.

The Punch headline is deemed unfortunate. The publication sought confirmation on the alleged subsidy reduction, to which NNPC responded that the subsidy has been entirely removed.” The rejoinder aims to clarify the company’s position and dispel any misconceptions arising from the media report.
