Just In : Former Governor Aide,Hundreds of Supporters dump PDP for APC, give reason
A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a former Special Assistant to Governor Olusegun Mimiko, Hon. Odunayo Akinrinlola, popularly known as Show-Me-Why, on Sunday, defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ode Aye, Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Akinrinlola, a renowned political grassroots mobiliser, who had resigned his membership of the opposition PDP before the 2023 general elections was accompanied by hundreds of his supporters drawn from the various wards of Okitipupa Local Government Area to officially join the ruling APC in Ode Aye, his home town.
Speaking before his official declaration to the ruling party, Akinrinlola said that he dropped the PDP because the leadership of the party in Ondo State and Nigeria at large has lost focus and vision.
“The moment my former party, PDP picked a northern candidate as presidential flag bearer, you will all recall that I resigned my membership and it was visible to the blind and audible to the deaf that I worked for President Bola Tinubu and all the National Assembly candidates of the APC including all the state assembly candidates in the last election.
“While I am not new to all the leaders of APC here ditto my activities and contributions in the last 2023 general elections; today, I am here to do the right thing with my followers by declaring officially, my unreserved and total support for APC.
“We declare our total loyalty to APC today having realised before the general elections that the leadership of the PDP in Ondo State and Nigeria at large has lost focus and vision”, Akinrinlola said.
Receiving the PDP chieftain, Hon Bode ikulala, the APC Local Government Party Chairman in Okitipupa, stated that the PDP in Ondo State has lost a feather and a loyal party man, saying that, “Akinrinlola Odunayo, also known as Show-Me-Why, is not new to anyone in the politics of Okitipupa local government. He is a grassroots politician and a greater mobiliser. Infact, I was busy somewhere but I dropped a message to assure this gathering and our leaders who called me on phone that I will be here myself despite my tight schedule to receive him into the party”, he said.
Notably at the venue were: Hon Femi Ayejusunle, the Caretaker Chairman of Ikale North LCDA, Hon Adelakun Adeyori, the APC Local Government Youth Leader in Okitipupa LG, and Hon Tomide, the Local Government Organising Secretary of the ruling APC in Okitipupa LG.
Also present at the event were the two former Counsellors of APC in Ode Aye Ward I and II, Hon Bayo Akindele and Hon. Orina Taiwo respectively. Similarly, Chief Obala, APC Ward Chairman in Ode Aye Ward I and Belusi, a leader of the party were also sighted.
