The Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, has made a fervent appeal to the residents of Ondo state, urging them to maintain peace during what he described as a challenging period for the state.

Speaking in Akure with an online medium, the Speaker emphasized the paramount importance of a peaceful environment for the state’s development.

Against the backdrop of political tension arising from a reported rift between Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the Speaker pointed out that the necessity of fostering a peaceful atmosphere, stressing that the interest of Ondo State is the most paramount to him.

“I am not anti Ondo State people contrary to the belief of some novices who do not understand the difference between legislative and executive. Legislative arm of government is a game of number and majority. So, the people should stop assaulting the integrity of the legislators and make wild and libellous allegations against the assembly.

“As per the assembly, we are for the people, but as it stands now, we are following the reconciliation resolution we had with President Bola Tinubu who is the leader of our great party.”

 

On the impeachment process that has been dropped, the Speaker said, “As of now, I had withdrawn all court cases as directed by Mr. President, however, we will not hesitate to communicate to him anywhere we have difficulty.”
