RE: Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, owo: the pitiable situation
The attention of the media aid to our esteemed and widely respected Lagos legal icon and a distinguished Real estate Developer – Banji Alabi Esq has been drawn to a malicious report credited to Owo complains Group (OCG) that he did a calculable damage to Rugipo when he was the chairman of Council of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo.
In the said open letter, it was also alleged that the state of the institution was like a frying pan which the current occupant is leading to fire.
The media aide, Mr Oke Alaba said that ordinarily the mischievous propaganda deserves no refusal but for salient facts and for history, it has become necessary to correct these misconceptions about our principal to the reading public.
I do not know that Rugipo is currently on fire but certainly there were no frying pans left behind by Banji Alabi Esq.
To put the records straight, politics is about service and with all modesty,when Banji Alabi came on board, the image of Rugipo was so battered that he had to bring his wealth of experience to bear and turn the place to a silicon Valley
The Ogho complaints group(0gc)knows Banji Alabi’s background as a well exposed, quite comfortable and highly respected world citizen, which formed the basis for earning him many appointments in the society and some within Owo by owo community. He was first patron to a mother association of the youth based on his worth.
In life, success is sweet and for him to trade off his hard earned integrity for frivolous demands from a group which negates his moral principle and as a moral agent a decisive decision was taken so as not to rubbish his reputation. According to his media aid, it was a fig of imagination from the group to say that Banji Alabi was dismissed as a patron. As a man of integrity he left on volition to avoid compromise.
Now on Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Mr Oke Alaba said that he thanked God for the priviledge given to Banji Alabi to be called upon being the first in the annals of the history of the institution as an alumnus to reshape the already battered institution with incessant record of industrial strikes and unending closure of school.
He took up the task of repositioning and his positive record of activities as the chairman for Council are evidently on ground. It is unfortunate that in this part of the world, prophets are not honoured in their homes.Just a few instances of cascade of achievements in Rugipo under his watch will be mentioned here to debase the assertion that he did an uncalculable damage before leaving Rugipo.
- Rugipo has the best intervention in terms of infrastructural development. What is on ground forms the basis of its conversion to now a university. Mr. Governor himself commended the wizardry of my headship and openly affirmed his team of Council as the best ever in the history of the institution.

The institution brought economic gain to the community with the hosting of the biggest sporting event called Nipoga.
3 The institution in the annals of her history enjoyed lPP to provide 24 hours electricity supply but since he left we cannot say what becomes of the project. -
Covid 19 and its devastating effect, as a media aid who witnessed the synergy in the efforts of Ondo State Government to curb its spread, Rugipo under the headship of Banji Alabi used hist initiative for Rugipo Artisan to patner with the Ondo State Government by producing mouthcovers and hand sanitises. I am yet to know of any other institution around that did similar thing.

Rugipo and staff benefited immensely from Huawei project on ICT. For the first time in history,Our brilliant students Mr.Olalekan Akinlolu,Miss Fikesola Joy and Emmanuel Olatunji will not forget in their lifetimes what they gain through Huawei.lnfact, destiny smiles on Olalekan Akinlolu who who was sponsored for a 6 months training in South Africa.
6 The Rugipo 103.3 Fm radio which had remained unlicensed came to life during the tendency of Mr.Banji Alabi Esq and today it stands as a benefot to the institution and the host communities.
The accreditation of accountants in training for our HND 11 accounting students came to life and several projects were commissioned and dignitaries like the visitor my respected Governor of ondo state,Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo personally came to witness and the royal obas and notable chiefs in the host communities came to witness.mmissioning of projects.
According to Mr. Oke Alabi, the above are just very few on the achievements of our amiable,virtuos and widely travelled personality who throughout his tenure than span over years never visited the instution beyond the actual time for Governing Council meetings
It is therefore erroneous for a visionless group under guise to start casting aspersions on the personality that ought to be celebrated for transforming Rugipo to an institution that today is the bride of Ondo State Government to consider for a university.
