Just In : Protest in Ondo Over Gender Balance ahead of House of Reps By-election
Reports reaching our heritage reporter has it that there was a peaceful protest in Akoko north east and North West federal constituency of ondo state ahead of the house of Representatives by-election
Countless numbers of women were seen on the street of ikare demanding for gender balancing for House of Representative bye election.
The women came out in numbers that they want female candidate for the bye election.
The house of Representatives seat in the federal constituency has always been occupied by men till the recent time before the appointment of Hon. Bunmi Tunji Ojo as a minister which now make the federal reps seat a vacant one.
Though different people from the two local governments have thrown up interest, both make and female to represent the federal constituency in the coming election
But for the sake of gender balancing, fairness, justice and equity, the women took over the street to agitate and yarn for women candidacy.
While contacting one of the constestant, who is a woman and has contributed significantly to the development of the Federal constituency via telephone conversation , Hon. Abiye Ademoyegun reveals that she is in support of the women agitation.
She explained that, there are women who can fit in well to deliver legislative assignment excellently well, and that on her own, she is well prepared to give a defined and distinct legislative discharge if given the opportunity to serve.
