Just In : NDLEA rescues five pregnant teenagers from alleged Imo baby factory
On September 13, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Imo State carried out a rescue operation, saving five pregnant teenage girls from what is suspected to be a baby factory in Naze.
The NDLEA patrol team intercepted the pregnant girls along the Aba/Owerri road while they were being transported from Naze to Ikenegbu in Owerri. The girls, aged between 15 and 17, claimed to have no knowledge of who impregnated them.
The rescued victims have been identified as Chioma Emmanuel (15 years old), Uma Faith (15), Divine Adimonye (17), Opara Gift (15), and Amarachi Mbata (16).
The Imo State Command of the NDLEA has been instructed to hand over the girls to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for further investigation.
This rescue operation highlights the ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking and protect vulnerable individuals from exploitation in Nigeria.
