President Bola Tinubu has put forward Dr. Olayemi Cardoso as the nominee for the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

He is a distinguished Nigerian banker, chartered stockbroker, and public policy influencer.
Cardoso previously held the position of Commissioner for the Lagos State Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget during President Bola Tinubu’s tenure as governor of Lagos.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in Managerial and Administrative Studies from Aston University, Birmingham, England, and further obtained a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.
Cardoso served as the chairman of the board of Citibank Nigeria.
He was a member of the Cities Alliance’s Africa Think Tank Group, a body dedicated to addressing urban development challenges.
Cardoso has served on the board of MRS Oil and held the position of chairman of the board of EFinA.
He is a member of the advisory board of Lagos Business School and serves as chairman of the board of the African Venture Philanthropy Alliance.
Cardoso is the founding chairman and co-chair of the Ehingbeti Summit, which is the Lagos State Economic Summit.
