Wike In Trouble As Owner Of Demolished Abuja Duplex Vows To Send Him To Prison
An Abuja property developer, Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim Kamba, has declared his intention to pursue legal action against the FCT Minister, Barr Nyesom Wike, with the aim of having him imprisoned.
Additionally, he plans to file a lawsuit against the Director of Development Control for exceeding the bounds of his authority.
Earlier this week, the Federal Capital Development Authority demolished a duplex under construction at Plot 226, Cotonou Street, Wuse Zone 6.
It was claimed that this property, purportedly owned by Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim Kamba, was built on someone else’s land without proper title.
In a press statement issued by his legal representative, Okechukwu C. Uju-Azorji, the developer revealed their intention to initiate contempt proceedings against the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, alleging an abuse of the FCT High Court’s processes.
Kamba firmly maintained that the disputed plot originally belonged to the predecessor in title of his client.
This predecessor had constructed a guest house, commonly referred to as a “Boys’ Quarters,” on the plot and had been collecting rent from it for over 25 years before selling the property and transferring possession to Kamba’s client in 2019.
The statement further clarified, “Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim Kamba subsequently acquired the property during the lifetime of the original allottee, Oyebade Lipede.”
When Kamba’s client began developing the plot, including renovating the existing guest house, a local legal practitioner in Abuja filed a Direct Criminal Complaint at the Grade 1 Area Court, alleging trespass and asserting that the property belonged to the late Alake of Egbaland, Oyebade Lipede.
This case was dismissed on September 1, 2020, with the Area Court Judge recommending that the matter be taken to the FCT High Court since it pertained to land title.
Instead of pursuing a court action for a declaration of title to the land, the aforementioned legal practitioner engaged various segments of the Federal Capital Territory Administration. I
It appears that he garnered support from certain individuals within the administration who accepted his narrative that the plot belonged to the late Alake of Egbaland.
The press statement concluded by announcing their intention to include the Director of Development Control of the FCTA as a party in the ongoing lawsuit, citing allegations of abuse of office.
