WHEN THE WINE FINISHES, INVITE JESUS.

John 2:1-10 KJV.
“And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there”.
[2] “And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage”.
[3] “And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine”.
[4] “Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come”.
[5] “His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it”.
[6] “And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece”.
[7] “Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim”.
[8] “And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it”.
[9] “When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom”.
[10] “And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now”.

☆☆☆ It was clear from the above story that the couples to-be would have made proper arrangements for the wedding.
☆☆☆ You cannot but agree with me on this when you check the list of the dignitaries that were invited:
☆☆☆ Jesus, his disciples and the mother of Jesus were all invited.
☆☆☆ That will quickly tell you that many others would have come, even if not invited, just because Jesus was there.

☆☆☆ Beloved, the celebrants would have made provisions for enough “wine” but the “wine” got exhausted.
☆☆☆ Then the attention of Jesus was drawn to their need.
☆☆☆ Jesus stepped in and that which was not enough became more than enough and even better.

☆☆☆ Beloved, the same marriage that had been bobbling with much love and enjoying marital bliss may suddenly become the ghost of itself
☆☆☆ The same husband and wife that were like “6 and 7” before can suddenly begin to oppose each other, argue and disagree.
☆☆☆ The same voice that was always giving each other joy and gladness can suddenly begin to attract enmity and lead to chaos.
☆☆☆ The same husband who was always eager to return home early after the close of work may suddenly begin to keep late nights.
☆☆☆ The same food that was considered the best of all dishes before may suddenly become a trash.

☆☆☆ Beloved, when any of the above mentioned vices creep into a marriage, it is certain that the “wine” has finished from that marriage.
☆☆☆ Jesus must quickly be invited to salvage such marriage from wreck.

☆☆☆ Yes, you heard me right: the “wine” of any marriage can be exhausted, irrespective of your preparation.
☆☆☆ When that happens, please invite the author of marriage himself, God.

☆☆☆ When Jesus stepped into the situation in our focal verses of the bible, he ordered water to be filled into the available 6 pots.
☆☆☆ When the water was later drawn out, it became the best of all “wine” that was never available in any wedding before then.

☆☆☆ The water in those 6 pots stands for the Holy Spirit, for the bible says:

“And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one” – 1 John 5:8.

☆☆☆ The “Spirit” in that verse stands for God, for the bible says:

“God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth” – John 4:24.

☆☆☆ We already know that the “blood” represents Jesus.

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death” – Revelation 12 :11

☆☆☆ Therefore, the third personality there which is “water” stands for the Holy Spirit.

☆☆☆ Beloved, note that those pots had been there all along, Jesus only gave instructions that they should be filled with water.

☆☆☆ What then is the significance of those 6 pots?

☆☆☆ The bible says:

“Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh” – Genesis 2:24.

☆☆☆ Note that the word “CLEAVE” in that verse of the scripture has 6 etters which stands for the 6 pots.

☆☆☆ Every marriage founded on Christ, the Rock, has been blessed with those 6 pots which both couple must constantly be drinking from.

C-L-E-A-V-E:

  1. C – CHRIST IS THE HEAD.

☆☆☆ In any marriage where Christ is the head, marital bliss will be the constant lot of the couple.
☆☆☆ The joy of that marriage can never be limited.

☆☆☆ To confirm that Christ is the head of marriage, let’s look into the scripture:

“Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord” – Ephesians 5:22.

☆☆☆ When Sarah called Abraham, “my lord”, it is unto God.

☆☆☆ When the wife submits, the submission is not to her husband but to Jesus as the head.

☆☆☆ Also read Genesis 24:64.

“And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she lighted off the camel” – 24:64.

☆☆☆ Rebekah humbled herself and came down from the lofty height with which she had left her father’s house.

☆☆☆ Woman, once you are married, forget your status, your position and affluence just to submit to your husband in humility, as unto the Lord.

☆☆☆ When there is any crisis in your marriage, don’t invite your friends or in-laws but invite Jesus and solution will come.

  1. L – LOVE. Let the love of Christ as contained in Ephesians 5:22 and 25 be your guide. “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord” – Ephesians 5:22.

☆☆☆ The problem of a woman is submission and God knows this as her weakness.
☆☆☆ You will most likely hear a woman saying to her husband:
☆☆☆ You are educated, I am educated”.
☆☆☆ “You have a good job and I do too”. etc.

“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it” – Ephesians 5:25.

☆☆☆ This is the area where most men have problems. When a woman loves, she does it with all her heart but a man! God have mercy.

☆☆☆ So man, love your wife and be sincere in your heart.

  1. E – ENDURANCE.

☆☆☆ Couples, storms will surely come, challenges of life will come; please don’t give up. Remember:

“For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning” – Psalm 30:5.

☆☆☆ There may not be much money today but let the honey in your marriage continue to flow.
☆☆☆ Tomorrow will certainly be alright.
☆☆☆ “Joy cometh in the morning”.

  1. A – AGREEMENT AND ATTENTION.

☆☆☆ Couples, please don’t sleep without settling your disputes.

Remember:

“Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” – Amos 3:3.

☆☆☆ Create time for each other. Don’t allow your job to stand between the two of you, not even your children.

"Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder" - Matthew 19:6.

☆☆☆ Take your wife out and spoil her. Tantalize her.
☆☆☆ Husband, give your wife every attention she deserves.

  1. V – VENISON (good food that touches the heart) “Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison”.
[4] “And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die” – Genesis 27:3-4.

☆☆☆ Woman, give to your husband “such as he loves to eat that his soul may bless and be drawn unto you”.

☆☆☆ If you don’t know what he loves best now, please find out.
☆☆☆ If you find out that he loves sex, it is not a sin, he is your husband, give it to him. Don’t be too holy to do that.

☆☆☆ God didn’t set the time when such can take place. We all think it can only happen in the night when everywhere is dark. Who says?

☆☆☆ In fact, God brought the woman Eve to Adam in the cool of the day, not in the dark, that was why Adam could see her clearly to declare:

“And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man” – Genesis 2:23.

☆☆☆ My wife was cooking one day and I invited her into the “other room” and we got talking. It was the smell of the burning soup that reminded us that she was cooking.
☆☆☆ Why? See me after now and I will tell you what we were doing.

☆☆☆ Man, please have this in mind that no woman is old.
☆☆☆ Treat her well, dress her, polish her and the beauty in her will glow.
☆☆☆ Never raise your hand to beat your wife.

☆☆☆ Only a mad man will afflict himself and won’t feel the pains. Read Mark 5:2-6.

☆☆☆ Man, your wife is your body, don’t beat her but 👇
☆☆☆ Remember, when your car is old, you refurbish it, do same to your wife:
☆☆☆ Panel beat her, sandpaper her, polish her, paint her and she will become a brand new damsel you once married.
☆☆☆ If you see any beautiful outfit out there, buy for her.

  1. E – ENJOY THE COMPANY OF EACH OTHER.

☆☆☆ Chase each other round your living room until you end up in the “other room”.
☆☆☆ There is no age limit to that.
☆☆☆ Call each other pet names.
☆☆☆ Coin out a pet name both of you can call each other that you will love to hear.
☆☆☆ Stop calling each other by your children names.
☆☆☆ Call each other same pet names you were used to before those children started coming.

☆☆☆ Beloved, no woman wants to be reminded that she is growing old.
☆☆☆ Look at her and say, you are looking sweet sixteen. You are looking fresh. I bless God that you are my woman.

☆☆☆ To the glory of God, I have been married to my wife for 34 years now and we still call each other same pet names we were used to when we first got married.
