13 Reasons Nigerians Shouldn’t Support Niger Republic Invasion – Shehu Sani
Former lawmaker Shehu Sani has presented 13 reasons why Nigerians should not support any armed invasion of Niger Republic. He strongly advises President Bola Tinubu against being pressured into initiating a war with the neighboring country, emphasizing that no West African nation has the military capacity to start or sustain such a conflict with Niger Republic.
Sani’s concerns come in the wake of the seven-day ultimatum given to General Abdourahamane Tchiani, the alleged mastermind of the coup in Niger Republic, demanding the return of power to Mohammed Bazoom. This ultimatum was one of the resolutions reached at the emergency meeting of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, held in Abuja on Sunday.
In a tweet from his verified Twitter handle on Monday, the social critic urges Tinubu to continue pursuing dialogue with the military authorities in Niger rather than resorting to war.

We should not cry more than the bereaved; if the people of Niger Republic don’t want military rule, let them fight to remove it themselves. We fought our own military rulers, and some of us even went to jail in that struggle. Let them fight their fight.
