Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, has been lauded for brokering a lasting peace and cooperation between Lagos State Government and Imo Citizens living there which led to the abrogation of demolition of houses mainly belonging to Igbos.
The commendation was given by the APC National Vice Chairman, South East, Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, in a chat with our reporter in Owerri, on Monday.
Arodiogbu said the mediation that led to the abrogation of demolition of private houses belonging to Igbos had brought a lasting peace and cooperation between the two major tribes in Nigeria, harping that the mediation by Governor Hope Uzodimma shows that the Governor is a good leader who has deep regard and love for humanity especially Igbo breeds.
He observed that the love, reconciliation and peace accord among the Igbo and Lagos State had abridged or stopped further violence, vice and lawlessness in Lagos State and the South East, pointing out that if the houses were destroyed as projected, the people (traders, workers, artisans) displaced and jobless, those who could not easily find their feet back on meaningful activities would seek alternative to livelihood in crime and criminality,
“As a result of the peace accord brokered by Governor Hope Uzodimma and other notable persons among the Igbo in Lagos State and the Lagos State Government, the traders, workers and artisans are now heaving a sigh of relief and thanking the APC led government for standing down the demolition order. The intervention by Governor Hope Uzodimma that brought calmness therein demonstrated that the Governor has the welfare, wellbeing and interest of the Igbo at his heart. He is committed to enhance better living opportunities for Imolites”, Arodiogbu maintained.
While calling on the people of South East living, working and doing business in Lagos State to continue to be law- abiding, the erudite medical doctor and pragmatic politician, appealed to the people of Imo State to actively throw their weight to the Shared Prosperity led government, give their mandate to the Governor’s reelection bid so that good governance and purposeful leadership would be largely consolidated in the state for the good of all persons of good will.
Also, Arodiogbu commended the Lagos State Governor, Sam- Nwolu, for allowing peace to reign among Igbos and Yoruba in the state.
