ARROGANCE IS A SPIRITUAL CANCER – Pastor Isaac Olutimehin
TEXT:
1 Samuel 2:3 KJV.
“Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogance come out of your mouth: for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed”.
MESSAGE:
☆☆☆ Cancer is a deadly decease leading to terminal sickness. Unfortunately, those who are suffering from this ailment may not know until they submit themselves to a series of tests.
☆☆☆ The tests may be coming too late after this decease has spread to other parts of the body.
☆☆☆ Somebody suffering from cancer can still be walking about like every normal being until this decease ends his life.
☆☆☆ Arrogance is also like a cancer decease, you may be arrogant and yet not know.
☆☆☆ Have you ever listened to somebody boasting about himself and his achievements before!!
☆☆☆ You will be amassed as to how some people can be so full of themselves while looking down on others.
☆☆☆ Today, when you listen to some Christians condemning other fellow Christians, you will be tempted to believe that they were born as saints.
☆☆☆ Glory be to God because “the Lord is a God of knowledge”. God knows all that a man does in the secret, even if he appears a “saint” in the open.
☆☆☆ And by God “actions are weighed”.
☆☆☆ It may later turn out that the one who pretends to be righteousness is actually filthy and stinking.
☆☆☆ Others may be condemning you while God is seeing you differently.
☆☆☆ Listen to what the bible says about those who see themselves as being better than others ????
“Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye” – Matthew 7:5.
☆☆☆ Some people are blindly criticising and judging others while their own lives will be busy crying for repairs.
☆☆☆ Prophet Nathan came to David to tell him the story of how a very rich man took and killed the only goat of his poor neighbour to entertain his guest. Meanwhile the rich man had a flock of cattle he could have taken from.
☆☆☆ Now listen to the judgement of king David ????
“And David’s anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan, As the Lord liveth, the man that hath done this thing shall surely die”.
[6] “And he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity” – 2 Samuel 12:5-6.
☆☆☆ Meanwhile, David had killed Uriah, one of his soldiers, and took over his wife. He didn’t even remember this when he was passing judgement on somebody else.
☆☆☆ Prophet Nathan now said to David ????
“Thou art the man. Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul”;
[8] “And I gave thee thy master’s house, and thy master’s wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things”.
[9] “Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the Lord, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon” – 2 Samuel 12:7-9.
☆☆☆ Beloved, whatever we are today is by the grace of God and not by any act of self righteousness less anyone should boast.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God”.
[9] “Not of works, lest any man should boast” – Ephesians 2:8-9.
☆☆☆ Beloved, before you stand to judge others, first remember that your “righteousness” is bestowed on you by grace. And if by grace, it is no longer of works. Therefore stop boasting about being who you are not.
☆☆☆ Another great danger facing those who are arrogant is the fact that they hardly seek for help.
☆☆☆ They think they have it all and yet suffering in silence.
☆☆☆ At the altar of prayers, this cancer, called arrogance, won’t even allow them to pray.
☆☆☆ They trust in their knowledge, education, position, status, connections, etc.
☆☆☆ The bible counsels ????
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding” – Proverbs 3:5.
PRAYERS
1. Oh God my father, please open my eyes to those areas of my life crying for self adjustment.
2. I refuse to be tormented by the cancer of arrogance.
3. Father, please break me down and remold my life.
4. Please Lord, don’t allow the spirit of arrogance to block me from my destiny helpers.
5. Father, on the altar of prayers, help me to discover that you are my source.
6. Father, please heal me today of that cancer called arrogance.
7. I receive grace to humble myself for God to lift me up.
PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS
I pray for somebody out there and I decree, the Lord will open your eyes to those areas where your life is crying for repairs.
May you not become another David who judged himself while condemning others.
To those who have been wrongly accused and condemned, the Lord who vindicated Joseph will equally vindicate you.
I decree and declare, the truth of every lie packaged against you shall come to the open.
You will not die the death of a sinner for the sins you knew nothing about.
As you lift up your eyes to the hills of the Lord today, I prophesy, divine help shall locate you in Jesus name.
May you not pretend to be who you are not before those who can assist you.
