Muhammadu Buhari has been told by the president-elect, Bola Tinubu, that he should expect a knock on the door even if he flees to the Niger Republic.

The Grand Commander of the Order of Niger designation was also given to vice president-elect Kashim Shettima.
During the Tuesday ceremony to inaugurate the Nigeria Customs Service’s new national headquarters, President Buhari stated that he had maintained positive relations with the neighbouring nations since taking office, adding, “If you disturb me after I leave government, I will run to the Niger Republic.”
Even though he had knocks from some regions of the nation, Tinubu noted on Thursday that the president should still anticipate a knock at his door if he were to travel to the French-speaking African nation, as he would be seeking assistance in dealing with the problems
