The fans, stakeholders and players of the Ondo State darling team, Sunshine Stars FC have showered praises on the Ondo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Bamidele Ologunloluwa for his prudent and sagacious management of the team which is yielding positive results.

Recall that Sunshine Stars FC finished second on the log B table in the first half of the NPFL football season with 3points behind league leaders, Lobi Stars. The good performance was taken into the second half of the season, sharing the points on their away visit to Wikki Tourist of Bauchi on Match day 10. The match day 12 against Enugu Rangers at the Ondo State Sports Complex could have seen the team moved up back to a comfortable second position on the table, but no thanks to the error of the officiating Central Referee who cancelled a clean goal that could have given the Akure Gunners a maximum 3points around 88 minutes into the second half. The game ended in a 1-1 draw in the first half but the changes made by the Sunshine gaffer, Agoye, in the second half saw an active attack minded team.

However, the attack produced a goal that could have been the winning goal in the 88 minute, but no one could explain why the Referee changed his decision in less than 20seconds after blowing a goal whistle to deciding a no goal again.

The incidence has caused fans, players as well as stakeholders to be asking questions on why such a clean goal was cancelled and have since called on the LMC to investigate the reason for the cancellation and sanction the referee.

Sunshine Stars club currently occupies the 5th position on the NPFL table B with just a point behind 3rd placed Niger Tornadoes.

The team remain in high spirit and very poised to finishing strong in the top three by the end of the season.

Meanwhile, a purported call by few unscrupulous elements who never wish the club well, to remove the Ondo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development over his call on investors to invest in the club in order to ensure a financially bouyant club is highly disappointing and such elements are advised to desist from such shameful thought. Such call makes a sane mind wants to ask how a call on investors to invest in the club becomes a sin? Anyway, the conclusion derivable from this standpoint of elements of retrogression is that they are archaic and oblivious of how football is being run in a modern world. One wonders how a club will survive without adequate funding! It is thus imperative to affirm that a call for investors to invest in the Sunshine Stars FC doesn’t amounts to a sale of the club in any sense.

Therefore, rumour mongers and agent of distraction are hereby advised to desist from creating unnecessary panic as the Commissioner, Bamidele Ologunloluwa and management of Sunshine Club is doing everything possible to keep the club smoothly running and ensure that the club finished strongly and qualify for a continental ticket by next football season.
