University Lecturer in soup allegedly for demanding s3x, money from his Student

A lecturer at the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Dr. Balogun Olaniran, has been arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for demanding sex and money from a female undergraduate.

Olaniran, who is the Head of the Department of Religious Studies at the institution in Ijagun, Ogun State, has been arraigned before Justice Osinuga of the High Court sitting in Ijebu Ode on one count for violating Section 8(1) (a) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000.

The ICPC told the court that the Lecturer, between October and November 2021, allegedly demanded sexual benefit or N100,000 from the student with a promise to change her academic grades “from fail to pass in courses with codes EDU 311 and EDU 312”.

But the Lecturer pleaded “not guilty” to the crime and Justice Osinuga immediately admitted him to bail of N500,000 with a surety in like sum.

The judge also ordered that the surety must provide evidence of 3 years of tax clearance and evidence of means.

The senior Lecturer will return to court on the adjourned date, May 11, 2023, for the commencement of trial.
