The Director General of Imo State Consumer Protection Council (CPC) Hon. Mrs Obioma Okafor displayed extraordinary leadership qualities in her efforts to broker peace between the executives of ekeonuwa grain dealers and some members of the association who are in serious dispute since early this year.

In a three and half hours peace and reconciliation meeting held at the association’s secretariat in Owerri which was organize by ekeonuwa grain dealers’ elders council, the DG Imo CPC used the opportunity to urged the warring faction to put aside their differences and embrace peace. She also appealed to the president of the group to agree to a peace deal to end the unnecessary quarrels amongst them.

The chairman of the elders council, grain dealers association (ekeonuwa branch) Nze LCO Osukwu, stated that the problem started after the association’s election where comrade Uche Ezuokeaba emerged as the president and instead of uche’s opponent and his supporters to accept the outcome of the election, they gang up to oppose any decision taken by Mr uche’s led executive. “Since then, the association has been facing internal rifts, serious quarrel that has led to all sorts of petitions to Nigeria Police against one another, arrest and detention of members and court litigations”. He reinterated.

Worried by these crisis, the Director General of Imo CPC Hon. Mrs Obioma Okafor initiated a peace and reconciliation meeting for the two parties to interact and see the need for peace.

Speaking during the meeting, the Imo CPC boss, Hon. Mrs Obioma Okafor stressed on the need to maintain law and order in the market as well as promote the vision and mission of this administration.

During the interaction session, other members of the elders council thanked the DG for her genuine concerns about their internal problem, noting that her intervention has save a lot of things. They vowed to comply with the directives giving to them by the Director General Imo State Consumer Protection Council CPC Hon Mrs Obioma Okafor.

In attendance at the meeting are Comrd Uche Ezuokeaba, President grain dealers association ekeonuwa branch, Hon Prince Anukam, secretary, Nze LCO Osukwu, chairman ekeonuwa grain dealers elders council, Chief Iwuchukwu, Sir Charles Osukwu, Elder Emma Nwohiri, Sir Ekeanyanwu, Chief Anyalechi.

Meanwhile, the rival group members are Mr Velaintine Opara, Chibuike Sham and Agu Ifeanyi.
