Group Commerce Full Investigation of Unimplemented NDDC Project in Oguta Communities of Imo state.
A civil society organization Working in NDDC known as Social Action of Nigeria within the week begin full investigation of Unimplemented NDDC projects in Oguta LGA of Imo state.
Social Action of Nigeria, is non governmental organization, with it headquarters in Port-harcourt which has the sole responsibility of investigating projects within Nigeria and beyond. They are stakeholders in the country making sure that projects mapped out for the people get to them .
Speaking on behalf of social action, to different communities leaders at Izombe Central school was Mr. Chibundu Uchegbu from Better Community life initiative.
According to him, In 2019, the Federal government of Nigeria through NDDC approved about five projects to be implemented at various communities in Oguta LGA of Imo state. “Unfortunately millions of Naria was released to carry out these projects but it was not” He said.
He further explained that, government was created to meet the needs of the people, as it bothers on their welfare and security.
“Imo state is one of the oil Producing state, project was awarded to Imo state, as part of the oil Producing state, but contractors of such project refused to implement those projects”
Also Speaking the project monitoring leader, Mr Basil Ejigini explained that the essence of their visit to the community on that day was to be for the communities to rise up and fight for what is due to them. One good thing that made the investigation more interesting was the general affirmation of the people, that such project was never carried out while expressing their displeasure over non implementation of such projects for their general benefit.
Responding on behalf of other leaders from the community, was Hon. Nwakuche Curtis PG Izombe Central union, who said that the community is ready to give their support to make sure such projects will be implemented or the money released for such returned.
The high point of the meeting was the release of the name of those five projects and actual budget and the take off fund that was released. Those projects including, Rehabilitation of 2 School blocks Trinity High school Oguta, Provision of solar powered street light in Ndi- Ikwuegbu , Construction of Izombe federal medical centre Annex, Construction of health centre in Ubi and construction of Okonya / Justice Assieme road.
