Amid the ongoing crisis between Ukraine and Russia, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has predicted the death of his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.
According to Zelensky, Putin “will die soon.”
Zelensky made the remarks during an interview with journalists in Paris following a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, Mail Online reports.
His comments also come amid reports that Putin is struggling with poor health.
Zelensky said, “He (Putin) will die soon, and that’s a fact, and it will come to an end.”
Putin has long been reported to be suffering from health issues. There have been reports of him coughing incessantly and his hands and feet showing involuntary jerky movements.
In recent years, the 72-year-old has appeared with a puffy face, a twitching leg, and bloodshot eyes, which have only fueled speculation further.
In one instance in 2022, the president was seen slouching in his chair while gripping a table and slurring his words during a meeting with then-Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
On several occasions, he appeared to walk with a limp.
There have also been claims that he might have cancer or Parkinson’s disease.
The crisis between Ukraine and Russia remains unpredictable, with peace plans from the United States looking uncertain due to ongoing commitment issues.
Last Thursday, Zelenskyy accused Russia of lacking commitment to peace and instead pushing endless propaganda.
In a statement, Zelenskyy remarked that Russia’s attempts to cease bombing Ukraine had been unsuccessful.
He said, “Russian strikes on Ukraine do not stop, despite their propaganda claims. Every day and every night, nearly a hundred or more drones are launched, along with ongoing missile attacks. With each such launch, the Russians expose to the world their true attitude towards peace.
“Yet always—even under the most difficult conditions—our people can count on the immediate support of the State Emergency Service personnel, police officers, medics, utility workers, and all those who help to clear the rubble, extinguish fires, restore the destroyed, and, most importantly, save and protect lives.”
He accused Russia of launching nearly 200 Shahed drones overnight, leaving 10 people wounded.
According to him, the wounded persons included four children and caused damage to homes, a church, and others.
