An oil facility in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State was rocked by an explosion on Tuesday morning, making it the second major incident in the state within 12 hours.

The blast occurred at a Manifold Connecting federal line in Okwawriwa, sending huge flames into the air.

The affected facility transports petroleum products from Seplat, Agip, and Shell, supplying ONELGA, parts of Imo State, and Brass in Bayelsa State.

Fortunately, it is located far from residential areas, reducing the risk of casualties.

This explosion followed another at the Trans-Niger Pipeline in Bodo, Gokana LGA, which is operated by Shell and supplies crude oil to the Bonny Terminal.

Security agencies have already launched an investigation into that incident, with two people being questioned by the Rivers State Police Command.

Authorities are still working to determine the cause of both explosions, but the timing and frequency of these incidents have raised concerns about possible sabotage.

Many are calling for a thorough investigation to uncover the truth and prevent future occurrences.

The blasts have also sparked fears about their impact on oil production, the environment, and local communities.

With the country heavily reliant on oil, such disruptions could have widespread consequences.

Officials are urged to act swiftly to address the situation and ensure safety in the region.
