Governor Adeleke unveils N159bn infrastructure plan
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Tuesday, announced the second phase of his administration’s infrastructure development plan, promising swift execution of the listed projects.
Speaking at a media briefing held at the Government Secretariat in Abere, Adeleke disclosed that the state would invest N159bn in various projects spanning the health, road, and education sectors.
Among the ongoing projects inherited from previous administrations, the Osogbo-Iwo-Oyo State Boundary Road (N5.94bn) and the Osogbo-Ikirun-Insha-Kwara State Boundary Road (N13.7bn) are set for significant progress this year.
Adeleke outlined fresh road projects slated for execution, including the Reconstruction of Ejigbo-Isoko-Aye-Oguro Road, a 5.1-kilometre project costing N3.02bn.
The Dualisation of Odo Ori Junction-Post Office Junction-Adeeke Junction with spur to Oluwo Palace, spanning 6.65 kilometres, will be executed in phases at a total cost of N10.42bn.
The Rehabilitation of Ejigbo-Iwo Road (Phase 1), covering 20 kilometres out of a 32-kilometre stretch, has been allocated N11.25bn.
The Construction of Iragberi-Ikotun-Ara Road, which runs for 8.5 kilometres, is expected to cost N4.35bn.
Additionally, the Dualisation of State Secretariat Roundabout, Abeere-Ojoro Road will be carried out in three phases: Phase One covers 3.55 kilometres at a cost of N9.24bn, Phase Two extends for 3.85 kilometres and will cost N9.72bn, while Phase Three spans 1.25 kilometres with a budget of N2.54bn.
The Reconstruction of Ijebu Jesa-Ere-Ilahun-Ibokun Road, which includes the rebuilding of a failed bridge, has been earmarked at N8.05bn.
The Dualisation of Ila Township Road, covering 4.5 kilometres, is projected to cost N12.65bn.
The Reconstruction of Ada-Ibokun-Ilase-Idominasi Road (Phase 1), spanning 20 kilometres out of a total 32 kilometres will cost N10.89bn.
The upgrading, lighting, and beautification of the state capital’s major roads and roundabouts will be carried out at a total cost of N5 billion. The total expenditure on road projects amounts to N101.8bn.
Adeleke also revealed plans to renovate 124 Primary Healthcare Centres across the state, with an allocation of N2.76bn.
For the education sector, 18 projects have been earmarked for execution at a total cost of N1.99bn.
The governor emphasized that the total cost of all projects under this phase stands at N159.16bn.
Reflecting on the first phase of his administration’s infrastructure plan, Adeleke highlighted the completion of over 150 kilometres of roads, 200 primary healthcare centres, and 99 schools, with ongoing dualisation and flyover projects at various stages of execution.
He assured that all ongoing projects would be completed within the 2025 fiscal year, stressing that no project would be abandoned under his administration.
