3rd Term House Of Reps member Dumps PDP For APC
On Wednesday, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) welcomed Nicholas Ossai, a three-term member of the House of Representatives, following his defection from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Ossai, who officially joined the APC, explained that his decision was motivated by the desire to bring significant development to his constituents. He emphasized that the APC provided the best platform to achieve his vision for the people.

Before serving in the House of Representatives, Ossai was a member of the Delta State House of Assembly, representing Ndokwa West State Constituency. He served in the House of Representatives until the conclusion of the 2023 legislative session.

In a statement to the press in Abuja, Ossai praised the leadership of the APC and President Bola Tinubu, whom he referred to as his role model. He expressed confidence that his defection would signal the end of the PDP’s influence in Delta State.

“I have been in the PDP for a long time, but the umbrella has collapsed. We have always seen the President as a role model, and he remains my role model. Now, I have no other place but the APC, where I can work for him and help strengthen his government,” Ossai said.

“I am here with my supporters. I have visited my ward, received my membership card, and attended the APC senatorial meeting. Today, I am officially declaring my membership and seeking your support.”

He further pledged his dedication to the party’s principles, promising to return to Delta State and advocate for President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.”

In welcoming Ossai to the party, APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru hailed his defection as evidence that Nigerians no longer trust the opposition.

“It brings me great joy to welcome you, not only to the APC headquarters but also to the heart of progressives who are working tirelessly to renew the hope of Nigerians. Our goal is to revitalize the party by bringing in experienced politicians who can help ensure the APC remains victorious in future elections,” Basiru said.

He added that Nigerians were starting to see the positive impacts of President Tinubu’s policies and would likely re-elect him in 2027.

“I congratulate you for recognizing the accomplishments of President Tinubu’s administration. I believe no politician has inspired as much hope and support, particularly among younger politicians, as Asiwaju Bola Tinubu,” he remarked.

Basiru also criticized the opposition, especially the PDP, for its internal turmoil, accusing the party of being unable to properly govern due to disarray within its ranks.

“The PDP is in serious crisis, driven by selfish ambitions and a lack of coordination. The question is, can Nigerians trust a party that cannot even organize itself to govern the country? Thank you for leaving that crumbling structure behind,” he added.
