bizman distributes cash, bags of rice to vulnerable, IDPs, others for Ramadan
A Sokoto state businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Murtala Abdulkadir Dan’iya, has distributed N142.1m and over 5,600 bags of rice to vulnerable, inmates and internally displaced persons among others in the state.
Giving the breakdown of the money, he said each of the four local government areas worst hit by banditry would receive N10 million with 200 bags of rice.
The local government areas include Isa, Sabon Birni, Goronyo and Rabah local government areas.
Additionally, the remaining 19 council areas in the state received five million Naira with 100 bags of rice each.
Dan’iya further donated cash and bags of rice to the Correctional Centre, hospitals, Mosques and residents of Hubbaren Shehu area.
Speaking during the distribution ceremony held at the Sokoto State Zakkat and Endowment Agency’s office on Wednesday, Dan’iya noted that, the gesture was to enable them observe the month-long Ramadan fast with ease.
He appealed to other wealthy individuals and those holding political positions to also assist the needy in this sacred month.
He further thanked Governor Ahmed Aliyu of the state for introducing programmes aimed at improving the lives of the people of the state .
“Since his inauguration, Governor Aliyu has been initiating one programme or the other aimed at improving the living standard of our people. This is in addition to several laudable projects being executing by his government across the 23 local government areas,” he said
He also thanked Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko and other chieftains of APC in the state, particularly Jarman Sokoto, Alhaji Umarun Kwabo AA.
The chairman, Zakkat and Endowment Agency, thanked the donor who he said has been identifying with masses in this difficult time.
“He has been supporting and assisting the needy for years. We pray Allah to Increase you in wealth and good health.
“We also appeal to other well-to-do individuals to emulate his gesture because this is the month where every good deeds is getting multiple rewards from the creator.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, one of the community leaders and Sarkin Fulani, Muhammad Nasir, Sarkin Fulani while commending the gesture prayed Allah to rewards him abundantly.
