Why we renamed NYSC orientation camp after renowned Educationist – Governor reveals

The Bauchi State Government has explained the rationale behind renaming the National Youth Service Corps permanent orientation camp in the state after a renowned educationist, Mallam Yusuf Muhammad Baba.

The decision was reached during a State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Bala Mohammed.

While briefing the journalists on the decision on Thursday, the Bauchi State Commissioner Ministry of Youths and Sports, Adamu Gabarin, explained that the decision was made following Baba’s contributions to the education sector in the state.

He described Baba as an accomplished educationist and academician who has made immense contributions to the state’s education development.

Gabarin highlighted Baba’s achievements, including “Being the first registrar of the Bauchi State Polytechnic and the first principal of the Advanced Teachers College.

“The council’s decision is a testament to the state’s commitment to recognizing and rewarding excellence.

“The naming of the NYSC camp is just the beginning, as the council plans to identify other individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of the state.

“The newly named NYSC camp will continue to serve as a hub for national integration and youth empowerment”, the government assured.

The announcement has been commended by various stakeholders, including educators, community leaders, and NYSC officials, who described it as a well-deserved recognition of YM Baba’s legacy.
