The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency has intensified its crackdown on businesses and institutions violating environmental laws, sealing multiple establishments across Surulere, Lagos Mainland, Agege, and Kosofe.

The enforcement operation targeted noise pollution and the illegal siting of gas refilling plants in residential areas, both of which pose serious risks to public health and safety.

An X post from the LASEPA handle revealed this on Wednesday.

Speaking on the crackdown, LASEPA’s General Manager, Dr Babatunde Ajayi, emphasised the agency’s resolve to maintain environmental order.

“Environmental infractions, including noise pollution and the illegal placement of gas refilling plants within residential areas, endanger lives and disrupt public peace,” he said.

“Our enforcement efforts aim to restore order and ensure compliance with the state’s environmental regulations. Defaulters will face strict penalties.”

Among the sealed establishments were several hotels, religious centres, a recycling plant, a pure water factory, and gas refilling stations.

“Those affected include Home Guest House, Feel at Home, Pholar Suites, Oak Spring Hotel, 18Plus Hotel, Assemblies of God Church, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Anwarul Islam Movement, Chibuzor Gas, Dolax Gas, and Eco Fresh pure water factory,” the release added.

Ajayi warned that the enforcement actions would continue across the state, sending a clear message to violators. “We urge all businesses and individuals to adhere strictly to the law,” he said.

“Residents should also report any environmental infractions in their areas to help create a cleaner and safer Lagos.”

The agency says its action signals a firm stance against environmental violations, reinforcing the government’s commitment to public safety and sustainable urban living.
