Another Truck Falls On Kogi Highway Where Seven Federal University Lokoja Students Died
In a video obtained by SaharaReporters, a truck loaded with tiles was seen lying on its side by the roadside.
Barely one week after a tragic accident claimed the lives of seven students of the Federal University Lokoja, Kogi State, another truck has fallen on the same Felele highway, raising fresh concerns over road safety in the area.
This was confirmed to SaharaReporters by a student of the university who said the latest accident happened on Monday afternoon.
The source said: “Another accident happened on the same Felele road, at the same scene of the previous accident, but there was no casualty.”
In a video obtained by SaharaReporters, a truck loaded with tiles was seen lying on its side by the roadside.
The cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained, but eyewitnesses suspected a brake failure or reckless driving, similar to past incidents on the dangerous stretch of road.

The latest accident comes in the wake of a tragic incident last Monday when an articulated vehicle carrying wood and jerrycans of palm oil lost control and rammed into the Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Kogi State, shuttle bus filled with students, killing seven on the spot and leaving several others injured.
The accident had sparked widespread protests among students and residents, who took to the streets demanding stricter enforcement of traffic regulations and improved road safety measures in the area.
The protest led to an indefinite closure of the institution by the management last week via a circular signed by the school registrar, Dr. Rebecca Aimiohu Okojie, dated February 20, 2025.
The school management explained that the closure followed consultations between the Vice-Chancellor and the University Management, acting on the advice of state security agencies.
The circular added that students, angered by the tragic incident, had blocked the university gates despite interventions from the State Government and repeated pleas from the University Management for calm.
Due to rising tensions, the closure was deemed necessary to maintain order and prevent further loss of lives.
As of the time of this report, authorities are yet to make an official statement regarding the latest accident.
However, residents and commuters, particularly the students continue to express concern over the apparent lack of effective measures to curb accidents on the highway.
