El-Rufai joins Atiku in visit to Edwin Clark’s family
Former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, on Friday joined ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar on a visit to the family of the late elder statesman Edwin Clark.
Clark died on February 17, 2025, aged 97.
Atiku shared a video of the visit on X, stating that he prayed for comfort for the bereaved family.
“Today, I led a delegation that included the former Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, @elrufai, on a condolence visit to the family of foremost statesman and nationalist, Chief Edwin Clark,” he wrote.

“I prayed for comfort for the family of the man whose work was defined by his pan-Nigerian credentials.”
Atiku said he reminded the bereaved family that Clark’s death was not only a loss to the family, PANDEF and the Niger Delta but the entire country “that he had adopted as his constituency.”
He added, “The best way to immortalise him is for our leaders to promote unity and inclusiveness for which he lived and died for. May his soul continue to rest in peace.”
At the family’s residence, El-Rufai said Atiku was responsible for the economic successes recorded during the administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo.
“Nobody gives Vice President Atiku Abubakar the credit for leading economic policy-making under the Obasanjo administration. Many of the things that we did…were under his leadership,” the ex-governor, who was FCT minister during President Obasanjo’s tenure, said.
