Amb Nwachukwu Extols Dr Lateef Idown, Natcom Unesco Secretary General For Patriotism
Ambassador Timothy Nwachukwu, The National Coordinator, SDG National Students Council, Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria on Students Engagement has extolled Dr. Lateef Idowu, Secretary General of the Nigerian National Commission for UNESCO (NATCOM) for his outstanding patriotism and unwavering commitment to youth education, empowerment and national development.
According to Amb. Nwachukwu, Dr. Idowu’s leadership at NATCOM UNESCO over the years has been exemplary, particularly in his steadfast focus on unlocking the vast potential of Nigerian youth through innovative educational initiatives and capacity-building programs.
“Dr. Idowu is a shining example of a true patriot who has dedicated his life to the cause of nation-building,” Nwachukwu said. “His tireless efforts to empower the youth, expand access to quality education, and galvanize national development via UNESCO’s various programs are truly commendable.”
The Ambassador noted that under Dr. Idowu’s visionary guidance, NATCOM UNESCO has implemented numerous impactful initiatives across Nigeria, from literacy programs in underserved communities to STEM education for girls and young women, to cultural exchange schemes promoting peace, tolerance and human rights.
“Dr. Idowu’s commitment to inclusive and equitable education for all, regardless of background or socio-economic status, is unparalleled,” Nwachukwu stated. “He has been a champion for the most vulnerable groups, ensuring that no one is left behind in the quest for knowledge and skills in the 21st century.”
Dr. Idowu has also been at the forefront of promoting Nigeria’s cultural heritage and creative industries, leveraging UNESCO’s frameworks and partnerships to uplift artists, artisans, musicians and other creative professionals nationwide.
Nwachukwu praised Dr. IDOWU’s collaborative spirit, noting his ability to forge alliances between government, the private sector, civil society and international partners for the benefit of Nigeria’s youth and broader populace.
“His diplomatic acumen and global connections have enabled NATCOM UNESCO to secure support from around the world to deliver life-changing opportunities for Nigerians,” the Ambassador said. “From IT skills training to entrepreneurial development, Dr. Idowu has been instrumental in equipping young people with the tools they need to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.”
The Ambassador expressed his deep appreciation for Dr. Idowu’s selfless service to the nation, often at great personal sacrifice. “Dr. Idowu embodies what it means to be a true patriot, always putting the needs of others before his own,” Nwachukwu declared. “We are all in his debt for his remarkable contributions to Nigeria’s progress.”
