Gov. Fubara pays tribute to late Madam Igbeta, pledges N50m to Church
Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has praised the exemplary life of Madam Ayebadieye Edward Dorcas Igbeta, mother of Dr. Ayiebaesin J. Beredugo, at her funeral service held in Nembe, Bayelsa State on Thursday.
Speaking at the requiem service at the Cathedral Church of St. Luke, Gov. Fubara announced a N50 million donation to support the church’s completion in memory of Madam Igbeta, a devoted worshipper before her passing at 79.
He expressed condolences to Dr. Beredugo, a key government official, acknowledging his unwavering support for the administration.
“We are here as a government to stand by him in this difficult time. No words can fill the void of a mother’s loss, but Mama lived well and, without a doubt, is on the good side of heaven,” Gov. Fubara said.
The governor was accompanied by Deputy Governor Prof. Ngozi Odu, State Executive Council members, and top government officials, including Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Oko-Jumbo, Chief of Staff Edison Ehie, and Secretary to the State Government Dr. Tammy Danagogo.
