Grandma dies visiting UK son
A Nigerian woman, Victoria Oladesu, has died after arriving in the United Kingdom to meet her new grandchild for the first time.
The grandmother reportedly died on Tuesday.
Saturday PUNCH gathered that she was also visiting her son, Hezekiah Oladesu, to join in the celebration of her daughter-in-law’s graduation.
This was disclosed by the Nigerian community in the UK via its X on Thursday.
The community disclosed that Oladesu’s family had the challenging task of raising funds to take her corpse to Nigeria for burial.
A GoFundMe was, therefore, raised to appeal to Nigerians to contribute money for the family.
“Tragically, her life was cut short, and what was meant to be a time of happiness has turned into one unimaginable grief,” the statement said.
The woman’s body has been deposited in the Hull Royal Infirmary Mortuary.
