VP Shettima Departs Nigeria for Summit in Switzerland

I have departed Abuja to represent Nigeria at the 2025 annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. This important gathering brings together world leaders, top business executives, and development partners to discuss the state of the global economy and strategies for improvement.
During my time in Davos, I will participate in various bilateral meetings, workshops, and forums aimed at fostering economic growth and resilience. Key highlights of my engagements include co-chairing a session on “Turning Digital Trade into a Catalyst for Growth in Africa,” where we will explore opportunities to advance the AfCFTA Digital Trade Protocol, and participating in a workshop organized by the African Development Bank and WEF on scaling investment in Africa’s frontier markets.
Additionally, I will join a stakeholder dialogue on “Global Risks 2025,” addressing the pressing geopolitical, technological, and environmental challenges shaping our world.
I will also attend high-level events, including a dinner with heads of state, government, and international organizations, as well as participate in the announcement of the Humanitarian and Resilience Investing Roadmap for Africa.
I am accompanied by top government officials, including Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, and Aisha Rimi, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission. Together, we are committed to advancing Nigeria’s interests and fostering partnerships that drive sustainable growth.
I look forward to fruitful engagements and will return to Abuja at the conclusion of my meetings in Davos.
