Notorious wanted Terrorists, Yellow Jambross, Yellow Ibrahim, others surrender to Troops
Following continued military offensives, which include coordinated airstrikes by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and ground operations, several high-profile terrorist leaders in the North Central region have surrendered.
Among those laying down their arms are notorious figures like Yellow Jambross and Yellow Ibrahim, along with other key leaders including Alhaji Mallam, Ardo Idi (Alhaji Lawal), Lawal Kwalba, Salkado, Gana’e, and Babangida.
The Defence Headquarters confirmed these developments, attributing the surrenders to the intensifying military pressure and effective non-kinetic strategies, which involved engaging key stakeholders in peace efforts.
In the past week alone, the military neutralized 135 terrorists, arrested 185 suspects, and rescued 129 individuals from captivity. In operations against oil theft, security forces apprehended 61 criminals and foiled the theft of crude oil and by-products valued at approximately ₦889.23 million.
The military also seized an array of weapons, including 72 AK-47 rifles, 11 fabricated rifles, and 2,415 rounds of ammunition, along with vehicles, motorcycles, and over ₦732,000 in cash.
Regional Operations:
North East (Operation Hadin Kai):
– 58 terrorists neutralized, 42 suspects arrested, and 17 hostages rescued across Borno and Yobe states.
– Recovered 29 AK-47 rifles, 6 fabricated rifles, and various ammunition during operations in Bama, Mafa, and Gwoza LGAs.
North Central (Operation Safe Haven):
– 6 violent extremists neutralized, 34 suspects arrested, and 28 hostages rescued.
– A notorious gunrunner was apprehended in Plateau State.
North West (Operation Hararin Daji):
– 59 terrorists neutralized, 26 suspects arrested, and 34 hostages rescued.
– Weapons, motorcycles, and communication devices seized.
Niger Delta (Operation Delta Safe):
– 82 illegal refining sites destroyed, 93 crude oil cooking ovens dismantled, and over 900,000 liters of stolen crude oil recovered.
– 6 hostages rescued and 30 suspected oil thieves arrested.
South East (Operation Udoka)
– 10 terrorists neutralized, 11 suspects arrested, and 8 hostages rescued.
– IPOB/ESN hideouts dismantled in Imo and Abia states, with rifles, ammunition, and motorcycles recovered.
Airstrikes Against Terrorist Enclaves:
Air force operations targeted terrorist hideouts in states like Niger, Zamfara, and Katsina, resulting in the neutralization of several insurgents and the destruction of their infrastructure.
Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, reiterated the military’s commitment to maintaining operational momentum. “We remain in a winning position in this war and will continue to employ innovative solutions to address the nation’s security challenges,” he affirmed.
The Defence Headquarters assured Nigerians of the military’s resolve to restore peace and stability across the country, reaffirming its dedication to safeguarding national security.
