Ondo Governor aide, Prince Oriade Adebawo joins NEMA, SEMA Visitation to Fire Incident Site, Assures Government Supports
On the morning of November 28, 2024, a joint delegation consisting of officials from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), and the Special Assistant to the Governor of Ondo State on Emergency Response (Hon. Oriade Wellington Adebawo) and the Akure South Local Government Chairman conducted an inspection visit to the scene of a fire that broke out at a residential property in Akure yesterday November 27th, 2024.
The inspection was led by the Special Assistant on Emergency Response, in collaboration with the Akure south Chairman and other emergency response teams.
Upon arrival, the delegation assessed the extent of the damage, taking note of critical areas affected by the fire.
According to preliminary reports gathered from the site, no lives were lost, but several personal belongings, including household items, were consumed by the flames. Residents of the house are temporarily displaced and are in need of immediate support.
The inspection team interacted with the residents and neighbors to understand the sequence of events that led to the fire. As of now the source of the fire is still unknown.
During the inspection, NEMA and SEMA officials reiterated their commitment to supporting victims of the incident.
They assured the residents that relief materials would be dispatched promptly, and efforts are being made to ensure that proper investigation into the cause of the fire is conducted.
The delegation commended the efforts of the Federal Fire Service fighters and pledged to work towards mitigating the losses incurred by the affected residents.
The local government chairman’s office, through the SA on Emergency Response (Hon. Oriade Wellington Adebawo) will continue to coordinate with relevant agencies to ensure the victims receive the necessary assistance.
