Presidency reacts to reports of Tinubu being CIA asset
The Presidency has dismissed reports claiming that President Bola Tinubu is an operative of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
A U.S. District Court recently ruled that Nigerians cannot gain unrestricted access to information on President Bola Tinubu’s past, particularly concerning alleged drug investigations.
This case, led by Nigerian journalist David Hundeyin, seeks full disclosure from the CIA, FBI, and DEA on Tinubu’s records.
According to Sahara Reporters, Hundeyin revealed that these agencies filed a joint memorandum arguing against releasing sensitive information.
The CIA’s submission hinted that Tinubu might be an “active CIA asset,” emphasizing the risks such disclosure could pose.
They warned that confirming or denying Tinubu’s ties to the agency could jeopardize his safety and that of others involved.
The agencies maintained that protecting their sources is crucial, as public disclosure could lead to retaliation against those cooperating with U.S. intelligence.
Reacting, Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, described the allegations as baseless.
He likened them to previous unsubstantiated claims about Tinubu’s identity and background.
He wrote on X formerly Twitter:
“They told you he was a lady. You believed. They told you Yorubas don’t bear tinubu, You believed. They told you he can’t be allowed into the US. You believed. They told you his name is name is not is name. You believed. Now they brought another one. Here you are as usual. Tragic.”
