Gunmen kill bank worker, two others
While parading some criminal suspects, at the Police Headquarters in Umuahia on Thursday, CP Isa assured that the perpetrators would soon be fished out and justice served.
The Abia State Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, on Thursday confirmed the tragic deaths of a Zenith Bank staff member, Victor Udensi, and two others in Umuahia on Monday.
While parading some criminal suspects, at the Police Headquarters in Umuahia on Thursday, CP Isa assured that the perpetrators would soon be fished out and justice served.
Udensi, according to the commissioner, was attacked by armed men in a Keke at about 8pm near Isi Court Axis of Olokoro in Umuahia South.
He had resisted when the hoodlums were trying to force him into his car trunk.
They therefore shot him in the back, and left him bleeding.
The attackers then targeted another driver.
“When they attempted to forcefully take his car key, the driver resisted. The armed men, however, shot him, killing him instantly,” Isa said.
He added that while fleeing the scene towards Ubakala, the gunmen encountered a Keke they felt was obstructing their escape and fatally shot the driver.
“An eyewitness reported that passersby rushed Udensi to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead shortly after treatment began.”
Meanwhile, the police commissioner announced that a manhunt of the assailants had been launched and assured the people of Abia State that the criminals would soon be arrested.
