Five Arrested In Connection With Killing Of University Of Ilorin Graduate In Kwara

The Kwara State Police Command has arrested five suspects in connection with the murder of 46-year-old Comrade Adebayo Olanrewaju Mathew, in the Ita-Elepa area of Ilorin West Local Government Area of the state.

It was gathered that the incident occurred last Sunday night during a confrontation between the victim and local security men.

 

The deceased, identified as a graduate of University of Ilorin, was allegedly attacked with machetes following a heated argument as he walked home.

His assailants reportedly left him wounded at the scene.

 

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, police arrested the suspects, including the community chairman and two local security men.

 

All five have since been transferred to the State Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters in Ilorin for further investigation.

 

When SaharaReporters contacted the Kwara State Police Command Spokesperson, DSP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, she confirmed the arrest but stated that only five men were arrested, with no females among them.

 

She added that the suspects were brought in on Wednesday night and that the investigation would commence today (Thursday).
