Nigerian Police To Sanction Lawless Officers Who Brutalised Automobile Dealer In Osun State
A video had surfaced online on Friday where some officers from Osun Command allegedly stopped and brutalised Odesanmi Dare.
The Nigerian police has said it has commenced probe into the trending video where some officers allegedly stopped and brutalised a young man identified as Odesanmi Dare, an automobile dealer in the Osogbo area of Osun State.
A video had surfaced online on Friday where some officers from Osun Command allegedly stopped and brutalised Odesanmi Dare.
According to an eyewitness report, the young man was beaten mercilessly by the policemen standing at the front of Rinsayo Filling Station, Ring Road Area, Ã’á¹£ogbo, after the victim had presented the required documents to the uninformed police officers.
However, the Police Force spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, while reacting on the incident on Saturday in a post on X said police would not condone professional misconduct from any quarters.
He affirmed that the Osun State command had been tasked to handle the matter.
“The Osun state command has been tasked to handle this matter while the AIG Zone 11 Osogbo has also been asked to take some steps. We won’t condone professional misconduct from any quarters.
“We have intensified our efforts in addressing complaints and boosting oversight functions and accountability in the police,” he wrote.
