Wike’s FCTA Threatens To Revoke Abuja Land Plots Belonging To Former Senate President,Governor, Others
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has given a serious warning to several politicians and former governors, threatening to revoke their rights to land plots in Abuja if they fail to settle their outstanding Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) bills within two weeks.
This warning came through a notice published on Wednesday, October 2, titled “Demand Notice for Payment of Right of Occupancy Bills for Issuance of Certificates of Occupancy on All Lands Allocated at Maitama II District, Cadastral Zone A10, Abuja.”
The FCTA stressed that it is currently undertaking infrastructural development in the Maitama II (A10) District, cautioning all affected allottees to clear their outstanding bills or risk losing their land rights.
“All allottees who have not paid their bills for Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O) are by this publication advised to settle their bills in full within two (2) weeks from the date of this publication. All affected allottees are, hereby, informed that failure to pay all outstanding land bills, rents, fees, and charges within the stipulated grace period would result in withdrawal of the offers of the Rights of Occupancy (R-of-O) over the said plots of land by the Honourable Minister of FCT and reallocation of the lands,” the FCTA warned.
Payments are to be made via the Remita platform to the FCT Department of Land Administration. The notice further listed 3,273 individuals and corporate entities who are in default.
Among the prominent Nigerians named were the children of former President Muhammadu Buhari, Yusuf and Zahra. Also on the list were Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and Minister of Agriculture Abubakar Kyari.
Other notable figures included former Senate President Bukola Saraki, former Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara, former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege, and several former and current lawmakers, such as Dino Melaye, Kabiru Marafa, and Stella Oduah.
The notice also mentioned former governors, including Theodore Orji, Rochas Okorocha, Ibikunle Amosun, and Okezie Ikpeazu, as defaulters.
If the bills remain unpaid, the FCTA may proceed with revoking their land rights and reallocating the plots to other entities.
