Governor ask residents to embrace pig farming, Gives reason

Ademola Adeleke, governor of Osun state, has called on residents to embrace pig farming to boost food production in the state.

He spoke on Thursday in Osogbo at a one-day training and empowerment programme for persons living with disabilities (PWDs).

Represented by Tola Faseru, his commissioner for agriculture and food security, Adeleke said pig farming will help reduce poverty in Osun state.

He said that the recent procurement of tractors shows that the administration is committed to supporting farmers to ensure food security.

 

 

Also speaking at the event, Moruf Olawale, permanent secretary of the state’s ministry of agriculture and food security, commended the governor for his achievements in the agricultural sector.

Olawale advised indigenes to embrace pig farming due to its profitability and its high protein content when used as food.

In separate remarks, Olaniran Atidade, special adviser to the governor on agriculture and food security, and Sunday Oguntoye, director of livestock at the state’s agriculture ministry, said pig farming would help to boost the income of farmers and ensure food security.
