EFCC and Media Humiliating Yahaya Bello, Group writes President Tinubu, demands Urgent intervention
A non social political group, under the aegis of save Nigeria Initiative has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to as a matter of urgent attend to the unworthy treatment of Ex-kogi Giver, Yahaya Bello by the Media and anti graft Agency, EFCC
This was contained in a press statement released on 30 September, 2024, by the Convener of save Nigeria initiative, Dr Abayomi Arabambi.
The group also demand for respect for the Former Governor’s personality citing his commitment and eight years service to humanity as factor to recon with, considering his numerous achievements as Kogi Governor.

EFCC POLITICAL AND MEDIA TRIAL OF EX GOVERNOR YAHAYA BELLO IS A POLITICAL WITCH HUNT : WE URGE PRESIDENT TINUBU TO INTERVENE
Gentlemen of the Press, we have watched with keen interest the melodrama between the EFCC and Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello.
While we decided to make reactions to the drama going on between the anti corruption agency and the former Governor was because of the way the whole thing is going now.
As a citizen of this Country and somebody who has served meritoriously as the Governor of Kogi for good Eight years, the Ex Governor do not deserve the kind of humiliation EFCC is subjecting him to.
Now, if you have declared someone wanted, you have described the person as a suspect and the person shows up at your headquarters, is he not liable to be interrogated.?
It was quite expected to take someone who has presented himself before law enforcement agency into custody If they like , but the EFCC didn’t but rather not asked him to go .
The reasons propounded by EFCC for not arresting him for interrogation was according them , the Former Governor reported at their office with fanfare. This is absolutely unacceptable by all standard and arrant nonsensical balderdash
May we remind the EFCC that Former Governor Ayodele Fayose on Tuesday October 2018 reported to the Wuse office of the EFCC wearing a T- shirt with the inscriptions ” EFCC I am here” and was accompany by Gov Nyesom Wike and former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode and hell was not let loose after taking in Fayose for interrogation
The EFCC spokesman, also insinuated that Gov. Ododo ought not to have been there. What a beautiful lies ?
Gov. Ododo is the custodian of these monies the EFCC alledge was stolen , now that same Governor brought the person to your office and all the EFCC could say was that they were in the car park. Where else were they supposed to park? on top of the building or inside the EFCC offices or on the main road ?
Our association believes the EFCC are just playing a script of the former Governor foes , and Nigerians have absolutely no confidence in them anymore.
Every Nigerians saw that Yahaya Bello was there with Gov. Ododo, and that people were hailing him including the EFCC staff, calling him white lion. And he stayed there for four hours.
It’s on records that the Former Governor interacted with Chief of Staff to EFCC Chairman, who directed him to go home., only for the same EFCC to go to the Kogi State governor’s lodge shooting sporadically in order to arrest the same person who had presented himself, because they had told him “whenever we need you we will call you”.
Former Governor Yahaya Bello has never been a fugitive from justice because he has told the whole world he has credible evidence, intelligence, that people are trying to harm him under the guise of fighting corruption.
Is very unfortunate when the law enforcement agencies seem to be executing selective justice, even when they knows that it’s unconstitutional for them to tried in Abuja in line supreme Court judgment but only in a federal high court located within the in Kogi state Jurisdiction
This makes everyone to loose confidence in the system. In this extant case of Yahaya Bello, it is so clear that it is a hatched job that the EFCC is up to. The person that you declared wanted even after you tarnished his reputation and subjected him to media trial, comes to your office, says “here I am.” and you tell him to go home. Then at night, you go to attack him, start shooting in a residential neighborhood, that person in law is entitled to feel as though there is an attempt to assassinate him.
Why not just take him into custody, if they are so desperate to have him? He had gone to the police station, he wasn’t arrested. They told him to go back to his flat, then in the middle of the night, they started shooting? They want to kill him. He has a right to self preservation. That is a fundamental human right, Yahaya Bello’s fundamental human right.
Now this narrative of Yahaya running from the law is not acceptable at all. How did he ran away from the law after briefing lawyers to go and represent him at the court. Yahaya has been in court this entire time. He is not a fugitive. He is not running from anything. He is not even the kind of person that runs from anyone or anything.
So this whole narrative? I don’t know what the hell is going on in the EFCC. If they are not jailing cross dressers or plea bargaining deals with bartenders, then we hear of allegations of collecting 15 million from a cross dresser to drop charges though yet to be substantiated
I mean, it is a cesspit of corruption that the EFCC Chairman must do well through job from top to bottom.
And with due respect to Olukoyode, I will say, the problem we have in this country is we do not learn from hindsight. Many have gone. Let him go down the memory lane and see where his predecessors ended up with this kind of conduct from his operatives .
In fact presently , his operatives are making h mess of the agency under his leadership by this irresponsible acts and disgrace.
So gentlemen of the Press could you help us inquire from EFCC, why Yahaya Bello came to their Head office in broad daylight, where everybody could see him, because there is no law that says he can’t be arrested.
Someone you call a suspect in broad daylight, then you did not arrest him, instead waited till the dead of the night to pretend to arrest him? help us ask EFCC.
Then on the so called new charges, to us it’s needless if you study these new charges, a lot of them are recycles of the old charges and we call on the president to call EFCC to ORDER
