Kwara High Court To Deliver Verdict In Offa Robbery Case Thursday Amid Tight Security
This directive is mandatory to avoid denial of access to the premises, as security personnel will strictly enforce the regulation.
The Kwara State Judiciary has deployed more security personnel to the State High Court Headquarters as the trial court prepares to give its judgement in the highly anticipated Offa robbery case on Thursday.
This was stated in a press statement issued by the Media and Information Unit, Kwara State High Court of Justice on Wednesday night, saying that access to the court premises will be strictly regulated and monitored by the combined team of security operatives.
The statement also urged staff members to display their identity cards at all times within the court premises for security personnel to identify them.

The statement reads: “The management of Kwara State Judiciary wishes to notify members of staff that the High Court headquarters’ premises will be barricaded by a combined team of security operatives as the pronouncement of judgment in a notable criminal case is set to take place tomorrow Thursday 26th September 2024.
“In view of the above, the management urges staff members always to have their identity cards displayed at all times within the court premises, for identification by security personnel.
“The management expects staff members to comply with these regulations to avoid being denied access to the premises, as the security personnel have been ordered to enforce the directive strictly.”
In July, the presiding judge adopted final written addresses which contained arguments of the two lead legal practitioners in the matter, Rotimi Jacob (SAN) for the state and Mathew Emeribe, the defence counsel.
The prosecution and defence teams adopted their addresses one after the other on point of law.
The court had earlier fixed August 2, 2024 but it was adjourned again because of the #EndBadGovernance protests.
In April 2018, some daredevil robbers stormed Offa town of Kwara State and robbed at least five commercial banks in the ancient town.
About 33 people, including nine policemen, were killed in the incident which involved the stealing of an undisclosed sum of money from the banks.
